Mis hermanas y hermanos,
Imagine if our government looked like our country, if we, the people- the actual citizens of this country- comprised our public institutions, instead of this other class of citizen, the “politician”.
Imagine if women held 222 seats in the House, and Black women alone, 29? Or if 1 in 10 Representatives was a member of a union, or 1 in 2 had experienced food insecurity? If 2 members of the Senate Committee on Agriculture were family farmers? Or if 50% of all federal judge appointees were people of color?…
